DAY 20 - An Overflowing Life Enjoys What One Has
Read It
Ecclesiastes 5:19

Appreciation for what we already have is as important as controlling our desire to always have more. This ability to enjoy what we have is actually a gift that God wants to give us for an overflowing life. And that gift is summed up in one word…Gratitude.
The verse above sounds so simple, but it is surprisingly difficult. We either are too driven by achieving the next thing that we don’t want to pause, or feel that we don’t deserve what we already have, and let that sense of guilt keep us from appreciating the gifts we have been given.
Gratitude is a powerful thing. It has the power to change our hearts from wanting the next thing to focusing on what’s right in front of us. It drains the energy out of our greeds and gives new joy to what’s in our hands.
INTENTIONAL GRATITUDE - It’s more than just a feeling that springs up from time to time. This is a purposeful type of gratitude. It’s a choice that you make daily. It’s something that you and I have to practice to get good at. So how do we do that?
First, ask Jesus for His help. Ask Him to help you enjoy everything you have in your life currently. Second, start to thank Him for every good thing that you can see.
Live It
As you do this more and more, your appreciation of all these things will increase. As you focus on what gifts you already have it will be a reminder of how good God has been to you already.
